Kebbe Krass is a popular Middle Eastern dish featuring bulgur, minced onions, and lean ground beef or lamb. This mixture is seasoned with a blend of spices, shaped into discs, and fried until they achieve a crisp texture. Often served with yogurt or a tangy salad, Kebbe Krass is perfect for those who appreciate dishes with a rich blend of flavors and a hint of Middle Eastern spices, creating a delightful culinary experience.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup bulgur, soaked
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 large onion, minced
  • 2 tsp cumin, ground
  • 1 tsp allspice, ground
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon, ground
  • salt
  • pepper
  • as needed vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Soak bulgur in water for 30 minutes, then drain thoroughly.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the soaked bulgur, lean ground beef, minced onion, ground cumin, allspice, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into thin, even discs approximately 3 inches in diameter.
  4. Preheat enough vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat to cover the discs halfway.
  5. Carefully place the discs in the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Adjust heat as necessary to prevent burning.
  6. Remove the discs from the skillet and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  7. Serve the fried Kebbe Krass hot with a side of yogurt or a fresh salad.
