Add a burst of color to your popcorn with this pink and green candied version, perfect for parties or movie nights.

Ingredients

  • 10 cups popped popcorn
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons packaged gelatin, red
  • 3 tablespoons packaged gelatin, green

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C) and spread the popcorn evenly on two baking sheets.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, butter, and salt. Cook over medium heat until it starts to boil, stirring constantly.
  3. Once boiling, stop stirring and let it boil for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Divide the sugar mixture evenly between two bowls. Add the red gelatin to one bowl and the green gelatin to the other, stirring each until the gelatin dissolves completely.
  6. Pour the red sugar mixture over one sheet of popcorn and the green over the other, tossing to coat each batch thoroughly.
  7. Place the baking sheets in the oven and bake for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes to evenly coat the popcorn.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the candied popcorn cool completely before breaking it into clusters and storing in an airtight container.
