This dressing balances rich mayonnaise and sour cream with the sharp bite of blue cheese and a splash of buttermilk for pourable consistency. It works equally well as a dip for wings and vegetables or drizzled over a wedge salad. Letting it chill for an hour deepens the flavor and lets the cheese soften into the base.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/3 cup buttermilk
  • 4 ounces blue cheese, crumbled
  • 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, and buttermilk until smooth.

  2. Add the vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt, and whisk to combine.

  3. Fold in the crumbled blue cheese, mashing some of it into the base with the back of a spoon while leaving small chunks for texture.

  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to let the flavors meld before serving.

  5. Stir before serving, thinning with an extra splash of buttermilk if a pourable consistency is desired. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
