This method steeps coarsely ground coffee in cold water for up to a full day, drawing out rich flavor while leaving behind the bitterness and acidity of hot brewing. The resulting concentrate keeps for weeks in the fridge and dilutes easily with water, milk, or ice for a quick glass whenever you need it.
Ingredients
- 1 cup coarsely ground coffee beans
- 4 cups cold water
Method
-
Place the coarsely ground coffee in a large jar or pitcher.
-
Pour the cold water over the grounds and stir gently to make sure all the coffee is saturated.
-

-
Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve lined with a coffee filter or cheesecloth into a clean container, discarding the grounds.
-
Transfer the concentrate to a sealed jar or bottle and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
-
To serve, dilute the concentrate with equal parts water or milk over ice, adjusting to taste.
