  • 1 large yellow onion, peeled and grated
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced

Method

  1. Grate the onion on the fine side of a box grater into a medium bowl, collecting all the juice along with the pulp.

  2. Add the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, and black pepper to the grated onion and whisk until the sugar dissolves.
