Ingredients
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 2 tablespoons smooth peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch

In a small saucepan, whisk together the soy sauce, molasses, peanut butter, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, minced garlic, ground ginger, five-spice powder, white pepper, and hot sauce.

In a separate small bowl, stir the water and cornstarch together until smooth to make a slurry.

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, whisking occasionally.

Whisk in the cornstarch slurry and continue to simmer, whisking constantly, until the sauce thickens and turns glossy.

Remove from heat and let the sauce cool to room temperature; it will continue to thicken slightly as it cools.
