Halved figs are drizzled with honey and roasted until their edges caramelize and the flesh turns soft and syrupy. A splash of orange juice and a hint of cinnamon deepen the flavor, making this a versatile side for cheese boards, yogurt, or vanilla ice cream. The whole dish comes together in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 12 fresh figs, halved lengthwise
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons chopped toasted walnuts
  • 2 ounces crumbled goat cheese

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

  2. Arrange the fig halves cut-side up in the prepared dish.

  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, melted butter, orange juice, cinnamon, and salt.

  4. Drizzle the honey mixture evenly over the cut sides of the figs.

  5. Roast the figs until softened and caramelized at the edges, 15 to 18 minutes.

  6. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes; the syrup will thicken slightly as it cools.

  7. Transfer figs to a serving plate, spoon over any pan syrup, and top with chopped walnuts and crumbled goat cheese before serving.
