This version skips the jalapeño and chili heat found in traditional guacamole, relying instead on lime juice, fresh tomato, and a light hand with onion and garlic for flavor. The texture stays chunky rather than pureed, making it a good match for tortilla chips, tacos, or grilled chicken. It comes together in minutes with no cooking required.
Ingredients
- 3 ripe avocados, halved and pitted
- 2 tablespoons lime juice, freshly squeezed
- 1/4 cup white onion, finely diced
- 1/2 cup tomato, seeded and diced
- 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
Method
-
Scoop the avocado flesh into a medium mixing bowl.
-
Mash the avocado with a fork until mostly smooth but still slightly chunky.
-
Add the lime juice, onion, tomato, cilantro, garlic, salt, and pepper.
-
Fold the ingredients together gently until evenly combined.
-
Taste and adjust salt or lime juice as needed.
-
Cover with plastic wrap pressed directly against the surface and refrigerate for 15 minutes to let the flavors meld before serving.
