Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 cups marinara sauce
- 12 slider rolls, split
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Method
-
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, milk, egg, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix gently with your hands until just combined.
-
Roll the mixture into 24 small meatballs, about 1 inch each, and arrange on the prepared baking sheet.
-
Bake the meatballs until browned and cooked through, 18 to 20 minutes.
-
While the meatballs bake, warm the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, 8 to 10 minutes.
-
Transfer the baked meatballs to the saucepan and gently toss to coat in the marinara sauce. Simmer 5 minutes to let flavors meld.
-
Reduce oven temperature to 375°F. Arrange the split slider rolls cut-side up on a baking sheet and brush the cut sides with melted butter.
-
Place 2 sauced meatballs into each roll bottom, top with a spoonful of extra marinara, and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella.
-
Bake until the cheese is melted and the rolls are warmed through, 6 to 8 minutes.
-
Top each sub with its roll top, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve warm.
