Halved radishes pick up a smoky char on the grill while a reduced orange balsamic glaze adds a tangy-sweet finish. The high heat tames their peppery bite, leaving a tender bite with caramelized edges. Serve alongside grilled meats or fish for a bright, unexpected vegetable side.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds radishes, trimmed and halved
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
- 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1/3 cup orange juice
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Method
-
Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
-
In a medium bowl, toss the halved radishes with olive oil, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
-
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the balsamic vinegar, orange juice, and honey. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until reduced by half and syrupy, about 8 minutes.
-
Remove the glaze from heat and stir in the orange zest. Set aside.
-
Place the radishes cut-side down on the grill grates. Grill until char marks form and radishes begin to soften, about 5 minutes.
-
Flip the radishes and grill the other side until tender when pierced with a fork, about 4 minutes.
-
Transfer the grilled radishes to a serving platter and drizzle with the orange balsamic glaze.
-
Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve warm.
