This frosting blends creamy peanut butter with butter and powdered sugar for a silky, pipeable finish. A splash of milk and vanilla rounds out the flavor and keeps the texture light. It's suited for topping chocolate cupcakes, layer cakes, or sandwiching between cookies.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups creamy peanut butter
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 4 tablespoons milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Method
-
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and peanut butter together with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth and well combined, about 2 minutes.
-
Reduce mixer speed to low and gradually add the powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition.
-
Add the milk, vanilla extract, and salt, then beat on medium-high speed until the frosting is light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
-
If the frosting is too thick, add more milk, 1 teaspoon at a time, until the desired spreading or piping consistency is reached.
-
Use immediately to frost cooled cakes or cupcakes, or cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
