Layered blue curaçao-style syrup, tart lemonade, and a splash of butterfly pea tea shift color as they mix, while food-safe dry ice creates a smoking cauldron effect at the table. It's a dramatic, kid-friendly drink for Halloween parties or themed gatherings, built from simple components you assemble just before serving.
Ingredients
- 2 cups lemonade, chilled
- 1 cup blue raspberry syrup
- 1 cup butterfly pea flower tea, brewed and cooled
- 2 cups lemon-lime soda, chilled
- 4 tablespoons grenadine
- 1 cup ice cubes
- 4 pieces food-safe dry ice, about 1-inch cubes
- 4 lime wheels, for garnish
- 4 edible glitter or shimmer dust, for garnish
Method
-
Brew the butterfly pea flower tea according to package directions and let it cool completely to room temperature.
-
Fill four clear glasses or cauldron-style cups about one-third full with ice cubes.
-
Pour 1 tablespoon of grenadine into the bottom of each glass, letting it settle beneath the ice.
-
Slowly pour 1/2 cup lemonade into each glass, pouring gently over the ice to keep the grenadine layer distinct at the bottom.
-
Top each glass with 1/4 cup blue raspberry syrup mixed with 1/4 cup cooled butterfly pea tea, pouring slowly down the side of the glass to create a second layer.
-
Finish each glass with 1/2 cup lemon-lime soda, pouring gently to preserve the layered look and build fizz on top.
-
Using tongs, drop one piece of food-safe dry ice into each glass just before serving to create a bubbling fog effect; never touch dry ice with bare hands.
-
Garnish with a lime wheel and a pinch of edible glitter, then serve immediately while the fog is active.
