This juice combines orange, lime, and grapefruit to recreate the sharp, tangy flavor of naranja agria, prized in Latin American and Caribbean cooking. It works as a marinade base for mojo or as a refreshing citrus drink on its own. Mixing the three juices balances sweetness with the bright acidity sour oranges are known for.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups fresh orange juice, strained
- 1/3 cup fresh lime juice, strained
- 1/4 cup fresh grapefruit juice, strained
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, strained
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Method
-
Juice the oranges, limes, grapefruit, and lemon separately, straining out seeds and pulp as you go.
-
In a pitcher or mason jar, combine the orange juice, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and lemon juice.
-
Stir in the salt until dissolved.
-
Taste and adjust the balance with a splash more lime or grapefruit juice if a sharper tang is desired.
-
Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before using as a marinade base or serving over ice.
