- 1 1/2 cups jasmine rice
- 1 3/4 cups water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt

Place the jasmine rice in a fine-mesh strainer or medium bowl and rinse under cold water, swirling with your hand, until the water runs mostly clear, 2 to 3 rinses.

Drain the rice well and transfer to a 6-quart saucepan. Add the water and salt.

Bring the water to a boil over high heat, uncovered.

Reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid, and simmer without lifting the lid.

Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the rice stand, covered, to finish steaming.
