Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 Thai chiles, thinly sliced
- 1 small shallot, thinly sliced
- 3 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/4 cup water or chicken stock
- 1 1/2 cups fresh Thai basil leaves
- 4 large eggs, fried, for serving
- 4 cups steamed jasmine rice, for serving

Mince the garlic, slice the shallot and Thai chiles, and rinse the basil leaves, keeping everything prepped near the stove.

Heat the vegetable oil in a 9-inch skillet or wok over high heat until shimmering.

Add the garlic, shallot, and Thai chiles and stir-fry until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

Add the ground beef and break it apart with a spatula, cooking until no longer pink, about 5 minutes.

Stir in the oyster sauce, fish sauce, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and brown sugar, coating the beef evenly.
