  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, until it becomes smooth. Let it rest for 30 minutes, covered with a damp cloth.
  3. Divide the rested dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a thin circle on a lightly floured surface.
  4. Brush each dough circle with melted unsalted butter, then stack the circles on top of one another.
  5. Roll out the stacked dough into a large circle, reaching a thin consistency. Spread your filling of choice over one half of the dough.
  6. Carefully fold the other half of the dough over the filling. Press the edges to seal them firmly.
  7. Transfer the filled dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the pastry for 30-35 minutes, or until it turns golden brown and crisp.
  9. Once baked, remove from the oven, let it cool slightly before slicing, and enjoy the rich layers and flavors of Feteer Meshaltet.
