Carne Asada is a traditional Mexican dish featuring grilled beef marinated with a blend of citrus juices, garlic, and spices. This combination infuses the meat with a tender, juicy texture and a rich, smoky flavor. It is versatile and can be served in tacos, burritos, or as a main dish with side accompaniments. A great option for a backyard barbecue or when you’re in the mood for a flavorful meal, Carne Asada offers a taste of Mexico with every bite.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs flank steak
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1/3 cup lime juice
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine orange juice, lime juice, garlic, soy sauce, olive oil, cumin, chili powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper in a bowl.
  2. Place flank steak in a resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over the meat. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
  3. Preheat grill to medium-high heat, approximately 400°F (204°C), and lightly oil the grate.
  4. Remove steak from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off.
  5. Grill steak for 7-10 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness.
  6. Let the meat rest for 5 minutes before slicing against the grain into thin strips.
