Ingredients
- 6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 package pie crust, homemade or store-bought
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and lemon juice. Toss to coat the apples evenly.
- Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish. Pour the apple mixture into the crust and dot with butter evenly across the top.
- Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the apples. Trim any excess crust and crimp the edges to seal. Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly. Allow the pie to cool on a wire rack before serving to set the filling.
