Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup Nutella
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Combine all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, dissolve active dry yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  3. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness and cut into circles.
  7. Place a teaspoon of Nutella in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges well to encase the Nutella.
  8. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the donuts in batches until they are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  9. Remove the donuts with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  10. While still warm, coat each donut in powdered sugar before serving.
