Craft a juicy smashburger using mixed beef cuts, finished with extra melty cheese for a flavorful, satisfying bite.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef, mixed cuts
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices extra melty cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and gently shape them into balls without overpacking.
  2. Preheat a 9" skillet over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil.
  3. Place one beef ball in the skillet and smash it flat with a spatula to form a patty. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Cook for 2 minutes on one side until edges are lacy and browned, then flip.
  5. Top with a slice of extra melty cheese and cook for another minute or until cheese is melted.
  6. Remove the patty and repeat with the remaining beef balls.
  7. In a separate pan, melt butter and toast the hamburger buns until golden.
  8. Assemble the burgers by placing each cheese-topped patty in a toasted bun and serve immediately.
