Ingredients
- 2 pounds turnips, peeled and shredded
- 1 cup rice flour
- 4 oz dried shrimp, soaked and chopped
- 4 oz Chinese sausage, diced
- 2 tbsp green onions, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp white pepper
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix shredded turnips with salt and let sit for 10 minutes to draw out moisture.
- Squeeze excess liquid from turnips and transfer to a clean bowl.
- Add rice flour, dried shrimp, Chinese sausage, green onions, and white pepper to the turnips. Mix well.
- Grease a square baking dish and pour the turnip mixture in, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Steam over high heat for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow it to cool completely.
- Once cooled, slice the Turnip Cake into squares or rectangles.
- Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Pan-fry the Turnip Cake until golden brown on both sides.
- Serve with soy sauce or chili sauce.
