Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken thighs, boneless and skinless
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
  • 1 cup potato starch
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, rice wine, sesame oil, minced garlic, and five-spice powder. Add chicken and marinate for 30 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix potato starch, white pepper, and salt.
  4. Drain excess marinade. Coat each chicken piece in the starch mixture, pressing firmly.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat.
  6. Fry chicken pieces in batches for 5-6 minutes or until golden and crispy.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels. Allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
