Ingredients

  • 2 chicken breasts, pounded to 1/2 inch thickness
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  3. Set up a breading station with three dishes: Place flour in the first, beaten eggs in the second, and breadcrumbs combined with Parmesan and Italian seasoning in the third.
  4. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, shaking off excess. Dip in beaten eggs, then coat with breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place chicken breasts in the basket, ensuring they do not overlap.
  6. Cook in the air fryer at 400°F for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway, until cooked through and golden brown.
  7. Remove chicken from the air fryer, top each piece with a quarter cup of marinara sauce and one slice of mozzarella cheese.
  8. Return to the air fryer and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until cheese is melted.
  9. Garnish with chopped fresh basil before serving.
