Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup grits
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil and add 1 cup of grits and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
- Reduce heat to low and cook, stirring occasionally, until the grits have thickened, about 5 to 7 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in 2 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese, 1/4 cup of milk, 2 beaten eggs, 2 tablespoons of butter, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes until the casserole is bubbly and the top is golden brown.
- Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
