  • 1 cup grits
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil and add 1 cup of grits and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
  3. Reduce heat to low and cook, stirring occasionally, until the grits have thickened, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in 2 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese, 1/4 cup of milk, 2 beaten eggs, 2 tablespoons of butter, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes until the casserole is bubbly and the top is golden brown.
  7. Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
