Classic Baked Mostaccioli is a comforting pasta dish featuring rich tomato sauce, melted cheese, and tender pasta.
Ingredients
- 1 pound mostaccioli pasta
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the mostaccioli pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute, stirring frequently.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 7 minutes.
- Stir in the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Allow the mixture to simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta, sauce mixture, and ricotta cheese. Stir until well combined.
- Transfer half of the pasta mixture into a 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese over the top.
- Add the remaining pasta mixture and top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Let the baked mostaccioli rest for 5 minutes before serving.
