Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground lamb or beef

  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a pressure cooker, combine the ground meat, chana dal, onion, garlic, ginger, cumin powder, and coriander powder.
  2. Add enough water to cover the mixture, then pressure cook for 15 minutes or until the meat and dal are tender.
  3. Drain any excess water and transfer the mixture to a food processor. Pulse until well combined, but not overly smooth.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and mix in the garam masala and fresh coriander leaves. Adjust salt to taste.
  5. Divide the mixture into equal-sized portions and shape them into flat, round kebabs.
  6. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Shallow fry the kebabs until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. Serve the kebabs with mint chutney and a side salad.
