Traditional Cherry Pie is a beloved dessert that has charmed many generations. It can be served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or enjoyed cold on a summer day, bringing joy to any occasion. The pie promises a delicious experience with its rich texture and taste, invoking a sense of nostalgia with every bite.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cherries, pitted
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 9-inch pie crust

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine cherries, sugar, cornstarch, almond extract, lemon juice, and vanilla extract until well mixed.
  3. Pour the cherry filling into the pie crust, dot with small pieces of butter, and cover with the top crust. Seal and flute the edges carefully.
  4. Make 4 small slits on the top crust to allow steam to escape during baking.
  5. Place the pie on a baking sheet to catch any drips, bake for 10 minutes, then reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (180°C). Continue baking for another 40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  6. Let the pie cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
