Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, and sugar.
- Gradually add warm water and milk to the flour mixture, stirring to form a dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- In a separate bowl, mix ground pork, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, scallions, garlic, ginger, and five-spice powder. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal portions.
- Roll each dough portion into a ball and flatten into a disk about 4 inches in diameter.
- Place a spoonful of the pork mixture in the center of each disk, gather the edges, and pinch to seal.
- Place each bun seam-side down on a parchment paper square and let rest for 15 minutes.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil and set up a steamer. Steam the buns over medium-high heat for 15 minutes.
- Remove the buns from the steamer and let them cool slightly before serving.
