A savory quiche with caramelized onions, crispy bacon, and creamy Gruyère cheese makes a delightful brunch dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 pre-made pie crust
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 1 1/2 cups Gruyère cheese, grated
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place the pre-made pie crust in a 9-inch pie tin, crimping the edges.
  3. In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the onions and cook slowly, stirring occasionally, until they are caramelized, about 30 minutes.
  4. Remove the onions from the skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, cook the bacon slices until crispy. Remove from skillet and crumble.
  6. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until well combined.
  7. Spread the caramelized onions over the bottom of the pie crust. Add the crumbled bacon and grated Gruyère cheese evenly across the onions.
  8. Pour the egg and cream mixture over the layered ingredients in the pie crust.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the quiche is set and the top is lightly golden.
  10. Allow the quiche to rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
