Ingredients
- 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup elderflower syrup
- 2 cups sparkling water
- 1 lemon, sliced
- ice cubes, to taste
- fresh mint leaves, for garnish
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the dried hibiscus flowers and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let it steep for 15 minutes.
- Strain the hibiscus mixture to remove the flowers and return the liquid to the saucepan.
- Add the sugar and elderflower syrup to the hibiscus liquid, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Let the mixture cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to chill.
- To assemble the spritz, fill each glass with ice cubes and a few slices of lemon.
- Pour 1/2 cup of the hibiscus-elderflower mixture into each glass.
- Top each glass with 1/2 cup of sparkling water. Stir gently to combine.
- Garnish with fresh mint leaves before serving.
