Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a baking dish with vegetable oil.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the semolina, all-purpose flour, sugar, and turmeric, ensuring an even mixture.
  3. Gradually add the vegetable oil and water to the dry ingredients, stirring continuously until the batter is smooth and well combined.
  4. Pour the batter into the greased baking dish, spreading it evenly with a spatula for a level surface.
  5. Sprinkle the pine nuts evenly over the top of the batter, pressing them down gently to adhere.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  7. Remove the sfouf from the oven and allow it to cool in the dish for at least 15 minutes to set before cutting into squares.
  8. Once cooled, cut the cake into squares and serve. Sfouf pairs wonderfully with tea or coffee.
