Ingredients

  • 1 whole 5-pound bone-in pork shoulder

  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper to your preference.
  3. In a bowl, combine the brown sugar, bourbon, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, dijon mustard, and minced garlic, mixing until well blended.
  4. Place the pork shoulder in a roasting pan and evenly pour the glaze mixture over the top.
  5. Cover the roasting pan with aluminum foil and place it in the oven to roast for about 3 hours.
  6. After 3 hours, remove the foil and baste the pork shoulder generously with the pan juices.
  7. Continue roasting for an additional hour, basting every 15 minutes to ensure the pork remains moist and flavorful, until it reaches tenderness.
  8. Once done, remove from the oven and allow the pork to rest for approximately 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
