Gimbap, or Korean seaweed rolls, are flavorful bites wrapped in nori and filled with seasoned rice, vegetables, and protein.
Ingredients
- 2 cups short-grain white rice, cooked
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 sheets nori seaweed
- 2 carrots, julienned
- 1 cucumber cucumber, julienned
- 4 ounces beef, cooked and seasoned
- 2 eggs, fried and sliced
- 1/2 cup pickled radish, sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
Instructions
- Cook 2 cups of short-grain white rice and let it cool slightly.
- In a bowl, combine the cooked rice with 1 tablespoon of sesame oil and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Mix well to season the rice.
- Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo mat, shiny side down.
- Spread an even layer of the seasoned rice over the nori, leaving 1 inch bare at the top.
- Arrange a line of julienned carrots, cucumber, cooked beef, fried egg slices, and pickled radish on the rice.
- Carefully roll the gimbap using the bamboo mat, pressing firmly to form a tight roll.
- Seal the edge of the nori with a little water.
- Repeat the steps with the remaining ingredients.
- Slice the rolls into bite-sized pieces using a sharp, wet knife.
- Serve with soy sauce for dipping.
