Ingredients
- 2 lbs mutton, bone-in
- 2 tbsp ghee
- 2 whole onions, thinly sliced
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1 tbsp ginger paste
- 1 tbsp garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- to taste salt
- 2 whole green chilies, slit
- 1 cup water
- 1 inch ginger, julienned
- fresh coriander leaves, chopped
Instructions
- Heat ghee in a large pot over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and fry until golden brown.
- Add the mutton and cook until it is browned on all sides.
- Stir in the yogurt, ginger paste, garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix thoroughly to coat the mutton with the spices.
- Add the slit green chilies and water. Cover the pot and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for approximately 2 hours or until the mutton is tender, stirring occasionally and checking the liquid level to ensure it does not dry out.
- Once the mutton is tender, remove from heat and garnish with julienned ginger and chopped fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve the Kunna Gosht with naan or rice.
