  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 stalks green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a pot over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Pour in the chicken or pork broth and bring it to a boil.
  4. Add shrimp, pork belly, fish sauce, soy sauce, sugar, and black pepper to the pot.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes, skimming off any impurities from the surface.
  6. In a separate pot, cook the thick rice noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  7. Divide cooked noodles into serving bowls.
  8. Ladle the hot broth, shrimp, and pork belly over the noodles in each bowl.
  9. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve immediately.
