Ingredients

  • 6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 recipe pie crust, homemade or store-bought

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Combine apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla extract in a large bowl. Toss until apples are evenly coated.
  3. Roll out half of the pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish. Pour apple mixture into the crust.
  4. Roll out remaining pie crust and place it on top of the apple mixture. Trim and crimp edges to seal the pie.
  5. Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape during baking.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly.
  7. Let pie cool before serving.
