Teriyaki Wings are a delightful Asian-inspired dish that features crispy chicken wings draped in a sweet and savory teriyaki glaze. This recipe works for appetizers or as a main course, combining flavors and a satisfying texture. The wings are straightforward to prepare and packed with rich umami notes. An excellent choice whether for a small gathering or simply a flavorful meal at home.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken wings
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and 1/4 cup water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves.
  3. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and the remaining 1/4 cup water to create a slurry.
  4. Slowly add the slurry to the saucepan, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
  5. Arrange the chicken wings on a baking sheet in a single layer and bake for 25 minutes, flipping halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  6. Brush the wings with the thickened teriyaki sauce and return to the oven for an additional 10-15 minutes until crispy and well-glazed.
  7. Allow the wings to rest for a few minutes before serving.
