Enjoy a refreshing twist on classic lemonade with the addition of blueberries, basil, and mint leaves for a delightful summer drink.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 cup basil leaves
  • 1 cup mint leaves
  • 1 cup lemon juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 8 cups water
  • 1 cup ice cubes

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine blueberries, sugar, and 1 cup of water. Cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the blueberries start to burst.
  2. Remove from heat and let the blueberry mixture cool slightly. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing down to extract juices. Discard solids.
  3. In a large pitcher, combine the blueberry syrup, lemon juice, and remaining 7 cups of water. Stir well to combine.
  4. Add basil leaves and mint leaves to the pitcher. Gently muddle them with a wooden spoon to release their essential oils.
  5. Add ice cubes to the pitcher and stir again.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  7. Serve the lemonade over ice, garnished with additional basil or mint leaves if desired.
