Create a delightful appetizer with sweet figs and creamy goat cheese, all wrapped in flaky pastry for added texture.
Ingredients
- 12 figs, fresh or dried
- 4 ounces goat cheese
- 1 package puff pastry, thawed
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut each fig in half. If using dried figs, rehydrate them in warm water for 10 minutes and then pat dry.
- In a bowl, mix the goat cheese with honey and salt until smooth.
- Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into 24 squares, each about 2 inches.
- Place a small spoonful of the goat cheese mixture onto each pastry square.
- Top with a half fig and wrap the pastry around it, pinching the edges to seal.
- Arrange on the prepared baking sheet and brush with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
