Create a delightful appetizer with sweet figs and creamy goat cheese, all wrapped in flaky pastry for added texture.

Ingredients

  • 12 figs, fresh or dried
  • 4 ounces goat cheese
  • 1 package puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut each fig in half. If using dried figs, rehydrate them in warm water for 10 minutes and then pat dry.
  3. In a bowl, mix the goat cheese with honey and salt until smooth.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into 24 squares, each about 2 inches.
  5. Place a small spoonful of the goat cheese mixture onto each pastry square.
  6. Top with a half fig and wrap the pastry around it, pinching the edges to seal.
  7. Arrange on the prepared baking sheet and brush with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
