Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 Tbsp za’atar
- 1/4 cup olive oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine all-purpose flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
- Add olive oil and warm water to the dry ingredients, then mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough to release air bubbles and divide it into 4 equal portions.
- Roll each portion into a flat circle about 1/4 inch thick.
- In a small bowl, mix za’atar with olive oil until well combined, then evenly spread the mixture over each circle of dough.
- Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C) and place the prepared dough circles on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until the edges of the flatbread are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
