Slow-roast a whole cabbage to bring out its natural sweetness, with a rich blend of butter, Old Bay, and paprika for flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole green cabbage
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Remove any loose outer leaves from the cabbage and trim the base slightly to create a flat surface.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, Old Bay seasoning, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Place the cabbage in a 9×13-inch baking dish and pour the seasoned butter mixture over the top, ensuring it's well-coated.
  5. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
  6. Roast the cabbage in the preheated oven for 2 hours.
  7. Remove the foil and increase the oven temperature to 325°F (165°C). Continue roasting for an additional hour, basting occasionally with the pan juices.
  8. Remove the cabbage from the oven once tender, and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
