Slow-roast a whole cabbage to bring out its natural sweetness, with a rich blend of butter, Old Bay, and paprika for flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 whole green cabbage
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Remove any loose outer leaves from the cabbage and trim the base slightly to create a flat surface.
- In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, Old Bay seasoning, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Place the cabbage in a 9×13-inch baking dish and pour the seasoned butter mixture over the top, ensuring it's well-coated.
- Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
- Roast the cabbage in the preheated oven for 2 hours.
- Remove the foil and increase the oven temperature to 325°F (165°C). Continue roasting for an additional hour, basting occasionally with the pan juices.
- Remove the cabbage from the oven once tender, and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
