Ingredients

  • 2 cups takoyaki batter mix
  • 1/2 cup diced octopus
  • 1/4 cup tempura scraps
  • 2 tbsp pickled ginger
  • 2 tbsp green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 cup takoyaki sauce
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup bonito flakes
  • 1/4 tsp seaweed powder

Instructions

  1. Prepare the takoyaki batter mix according to the package instructions.
  2. Heat the takoyaki pan over medium heat and grease each mold with oil.
  3. Fill each mold with batter until half full, then place diced octopus, tempura scraps, pickled ginger, and green onions into each mold.
  4. Add more batter to cover the filling and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
  5. Use a skewer to rotate each ball 90 degrees to cook the other side evenly.
  6. Continue rotating occasionally until the takoyaki balls are golden brown and crispy on the outside, about 5 to 6 minutes.
  7. Remove the takoyaki balls from the pan using a skewer or chopsticks.
  8. Drizzle takoyaki sauce over the takoyaki balls, then add mayonnaise, sprinkle with bonito flakes, and dust with seaweed powder before serving.
