Create flaky phyllo triangles filled with a savory blend of feta cheese and spinach, ideal for appetizers or snacks.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 10 ounces fresh spinach, chopped
  • 8 ounces feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 package phyllo dough sheets, thawed
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until soft and fragrant.
  3. Stir in the chopped spinach and cook until wilted. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the spinach mixture with crumbled feta, nutmeg, and black pepper. Mix well.
  5. Unroll the phyllo dough and keep it covered with a damp towel to prevent drying.
  6. Take one sheet of phyllo dough and brush it lightly with melted butter. Fold in half lengthwise.
  7. Place a tablespoon of filling at one end of the strip and fold over to form a triangle. Continue folding to the end of the strip.
  8. Repeat with remaining phyllo sheets and filling.
  9. Place triangles on a baking sheet and brush the tops with melted butter.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and crisp.
  11. Serve warm or at room temperature.
