Create flaky phyllo triangles filled with a savory blend of feta cheese and spinach, ideal for appetizers or snacks.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 10 ounces fresh spinach, chopped
- 8 ounces feta cheese, crumbled
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 package phyllo dough sheets, thawed
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until soft and fragrant.
- Stir in the chopped spinach and cook until wilted. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, combine the spinach mixture with crumbled feta, nutmeg, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Unroll the phyllo dough and keep it covered with a damp towel to prevent drying.
- Take one sheet of phyllo dough and brush it lightly with melted butter. Fold in half lengthwise.
- Place a tablespoon of filling at one end of the strip and fold over to form a triangle. Continue folding to the end of the strip.
- Repeat with remaining phyllo sheets and filling.
- Place triangles on a baking sheet and brush the tops with melted butter.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and crisp.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
