Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground lamb or beef
  • 1 cup green peas
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 cup tomato, chopped
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 2 tbsp oil or ghee

Instructions

  1. Heat oil or ghee in a pan over medium heat and sauté the finely chopped onion until golden brown.
  2. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Stir in the ground meat, then add turmeric, cumin, coriander, and red chili powder. Cook until the meat is browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften, approximately 3-4 minutes.
  5. Stir in the green peas and cook until they are tender, about 5 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped cilantro. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve the Keema Matar hot, accompanied by rice or bread.
