Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cardamom
- 1 whole orange, zested
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp butter, melted
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 to 3 tbsp orange juice
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a donut pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cardamom, and orange zest.
- In a separate bowl, mix the milk, orange juice, vanilla extract, and melted butter.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed, being careful not to overmix.
- Spoon the batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about three-quarters full.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the donuts spring back when lightly pressed.
- Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the glaze, in a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of orange juice, adding more juice if needed to reach the desired consistency.
- Dip the tops of the cooled donuts into the glaze and place them back on the wire rack for the glaze to set before serving.
