Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup sugar, for coating
  • 1 Tbsp cinnamon, for coating

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Remove from heat, then immediately stir in flour and vanilla extract until the mixture forms a smooth ball.
  3. In a deep pan, heat vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Scoop dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  5. Carefully pipe 1-inch strips of dough directly into the hot oil.
  6. Fry the churro bites until golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes per side. Use a slotted spoon to transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. In a shallow dish, mix together sugar and cinnamon for coating.
  8. While warm, roll the churro bites in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat evenly.
