Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 8 ounces mozzarella cheese sticks, cut in half

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  6. Punch down the dough and divide it into 16 equal pieces.
  7. Flatten each piece into a rectangle and place a half cheese stick in the center.
  8. Fold the dough over the cheese and seal the edges tightly.
  9. Place the breadsticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and dried herbs.
  11. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
