  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, dry yeast, sugar, and salt. Heat the milk and melted butter until warm. Add to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 to 7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  3. After rising, punch down the dough to release air. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape them into round buns. Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). In a separate bowl, prepare the topping by combining the shredded coconut, sugar, and water. Stir until well mixed.
  5. Spread the coconut topping evenly over the risen buns.
  6. Bake the buns in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until they turn golden brown. Let them cool slightly before serving.
