Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken wings, drumettes and flats
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
  • 2 tbsp green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Pat dry the chicken wings with paper towels thoroughly to remove excess moisture.
  2. Coat the chicken wings in a large bowl with cornstarch until they are evenly covered.
  3. In a separate bowl, prepare the sauce by mixing soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or pot over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry the chicken wings in batches without overcrowding the pan, cooking until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  6. In another pan, combine the prepared sauce mixture and heat over medium heat until it thickens slightly, stirring occasionally.
